Workshop Description

Participants will write, poetry or prose, as they are led, and then share their story if they like. A formula is provided for responding. The goals are to encourage people to find their voice, to learn the powers of self-expression, to build trusting relationships in the community.

Ideal time is 2 hours. We start with 5 minutes of silence. People then offer a brief “check-in,” and others write down phrases that pop out. These phrases are read aloud at the end of check-in. Participants then write for 15-20 minutes, possibly inspired by one of the phrases. Each one takes a turn reading aloud their pieces if they like. Everyone listening can then offer “wonderings and wanderings” or appreciations. Sometimes a discussion grows out of this, but we stay cognizant of allowing time for everyone to share. We hold a moment of silence between each offering. Friendly relationships are formed and deepened in this process. It has proven to be an
excellent way to develop trust across racial, gender and generational lines. A participant could experience the format once, but those attending for 5 days will experience the development of deepening bonds.

Leader Experience

S and Laurie have been leading the weekly online group, which we call Evolutionary Revolutionary Healing Writers and Artists (EvoRevo for short), for three years.
