Instructions:
Choose someone who can listen to you prayerfully—this can be a person from the Spiritual Deepening group, Meeting, or elsewhere, a spiritual director, pastor, counselor, or an ongoing spiritual companion—who will listen non-judgmentally and understand and enter into the spiritual nature of this practice as you share what the Light has shown you in your questions, your worries, your patterns, and your joys.
Schedule your Prayerful Listening sessions — phone calls, coffee dates, or video chats — every two weeks for a month or two and pay attention to how this sharing and witnessing touches your life.
Remember that to openly share your shadow self and your past unloving actions is an act of contrition, acknowledging to yourself and to God, with the listener as witness. See what in your past needs to be set right, what amends need to be made. Select a Prayerful Listener who might help you in discerning if your suggested amend is the right and loving next step.
