Ruth Reber attended her first FGC Gathering of Friends when she was just three years old. Since then, she has attended more Gatherings than she can count, and even served as the Gathering Assistant at FGC for two years beginning in 2000.

Now, FGC is pleased to announce that Ruth is taking her dedication to the Gathering a step further – by joining the FGC team as its new Conference Coordinator! Ruth will succeed current Conference Coordinator Traci Hjelt Sullivan, who will assume her role as the new Associate Secretary for Development at the end of this month.

Prior to her work with FGC, Ruth was a dedicated nurse who evolved from working with women in the labor and delivery unit of Herman Hospital in Houston, Texas to leading a team of home health nurses working with Medicare patients in Austin. Recently, Ruth has been working with Healthy Families Frederick in Frederick, Maryland, educating and supporting first-time parents.

A dedicated Friend, Ruth has also served as a conference organizer for American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) for multiple initiatives including the Nationwide Women’s Program, and she supported the Non-violence and Young Children Program for Philadelphia Yearly Meeting (PYM) through weekly workshops on non-violent conflict resolution for children ages four to six. Currently, Ruth worships at Chestnut Hill Friends Meeting.

Ruth’s secret to managing large-scale conferences and campaigns lies in her relationship with her team. “I work best with a team with common goals,” she said. “Different perspectives add strength to a project.”

Please join us in congratulating Ruth on her new role with FGC!
