Promote your Quaker Community’s Virtual Opportunities with FGC!
If your Quaker meeting, church, organization, or cause-based community offers weekly Meeting for Worship online, virtual events and retreats, or ongoing web-based courses and trainings, here’s how you can get the word out through Friends General Conference.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues and more cities and regions place restrictions on in-person events, Friends and spiritual seekers will be searching for virtual opportunities to enjoy faith and fellowship in the months ahead.
Send us your virtual event for inclusion in our monthly Vital Friends eNewsletter.
In each issue of Vital Friends, we compile events hosted by Quaker meetings and organizations into a single article (here’s an example). The article is hosted on the FGC website, so we can update your event details up until the day it happens. To keep your online event experience safe, we recommend publishing information on how to register, plus a link to the registration form, in lieu of publishing the Zoom/online event login details. Learn more about our submission guidelines and deadlines for upcoming issues of Vital Friends here.
Tag us in posts about your event on social media.
FGC has a presence online through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. If your event could use a signal boost, tag us in your post and we’ll share, retweet, or re-gram as many of your event posts as we can. Please note that we’re not able to share or publicize fundraisers or political/partisan events.
Update your Quaker Finder listing.
If your Quaker meeting or church offers Meeting for Worship online each week, you’ll want to update your Quaker Finder listing with details so new and seasoned Friends can participate. To update your listing, find your Quaker meeting on FGC’s online Quaker Finder directory (you can search by zip code or meeting name) and click on the phrase “Submit a correction here” to access our Quaker Finder Correction Form. Once you’ve submitted your update, it is published to the Quaker Finder directory within a few days.
If your Quaker meeting or church does not yet have a Quaker Finder listing, you can also use this form to create one!
To keep your online worship experience safe, we recommend publishing information on how to register for virtual Meeting for Worship. For example, you can ask interested Friends to email your meeting’s main email address or you can publish the link to the worship registration form. Do not publish the direct video conference link and password for accessing your virtual worship event, as this may attract Zoombombers (people who want to disrupt your video conference with harmful visuals, sounds, or profanity).
