Bible Half Hour with Leslie Manning
Leslie Manning is a member of the Durham (Maine) Meeting and an interfaith chaplain, serving incarcerated people and their loved ones and preparing our communities to be more welcoming to returning residents. She is a former president of the Maine Council of Churches and has served her Yearly Meeting as clerk of the annual sessions committee, clerk of the Working Groups on Spirituality and Sexual Ethics and Reparations for Native Americans and is currently clerk of our governance body, the Permanent Board.
For the 2022 Gathering, Leslie invited us to consider this query: In a world where we can choose to listen and obey robotic commands, what would it mean to us and our religious society if we trusted and relied upon the Divine as much as our GPS?

Thursday, July 7 – Reggie Harris and Greg Greenway: Deeper Than The Skin
Reggie Harris and Greg Greenway are on a pilgrimage together. The racial divisions that are the reality of America started them in two different worlds, but the bonds of music, respect, admiration, and shared vision brought them together as friends and colleagues. The musical and spiritual blooming of this history has become Deeper Than the Skin, the telling of their stories through words and music.
Friday, July 8 – Margaret Jacobs and Sa’ed Atshan: Invoking Unsettling
The Friday Evening Plenary will be focused on an inversion of power in our histories, language, communities, and understandings of place. We are inviting speakers to share an authentic conversation where the concept of ‘unsettling’ is welcomed and explored. We invite those who gather for the plenary to consider how they might practice new ways of listening, using all of their faculties — mind, body, heart, stomach — to feel into the ways we might collectively envision reconciliation, repair, and co-creation of new stories and ways of being.
