FGC Newsletters: November 2019
Each month, FGC distributes two monthly digital newsletters to share updates and information about FGC and QuakerBooks – Vital Friends and Book Musings. Below is the introductory text and links to our November 2019 newsletters for friends.
Vital Friends
Dear Friend,
Quaker writers help illuminate our shared journeys as Friends. They describe their deeply personal and multifaceted journeys of faith for the benefit of Friends, newcomers, and seekers who want to understand the nuances and experiences that make our faith so transformative. For this issue, we’ll take a behind-the-scenes look at Quaker publishing, from a spotlight on FGC’s QuakerPress to pointers from Friendly writer (and former FGC staff member) J. Brent Bill on how to increase your chances of getting published. We will be adding bonus articles about Quaker authors and their paths to publication throughout the month to the FGC website, so visit FGCquaker.org throughout the month of November.
This issue also features details about the 2020 FGC Gathering, an introduction to our new Ministry on Racism Program Fellow, an update from the Anti-Racism Implementation Group, a webinar on financial and estate planning with Quaker values, and a note of thanks from our Development Team.

Book Musings
Dear Friend,
For most of us, the change of seasons and early sunset leads to more time indoors, when we can curl up with a good book or talk with friends . . . or both! It’s an ideal time for book groups to meet.
At QuakerBooks, we spend a fair amount of time searching for new authors with new thoughts about how to deepen our spiritual lives, and also talking with experienced authors whose writings have already enriched us. Our goal is to serve Friends on that journey by finding the perfect book to enjoy alone by the fireplace or as part of a lively discussion group.
As you look through our online store you’ll see many wonderful choices, but here we’d particularly like to lift up Marcelle Martin, author of the best-selling Our Life is Love and a frequent workshop leader at Woolman Hill, Pendle Hill, and the Gathering. Read on for Marcelle’s latest book, A Guide to Faithfulness Groups.
Enjoy!
