Friends General Conference is seeking a Manager of QuakerBooks of FGC. This is a full-time position at QuakerBooks of FGC. QuakerBooks is located on the campus of Pendle Hill, a Quaker study, retreat, and conference center in Wallingford, PA.
QuakerBooks of FGC serves Friends, meetings and other interested people by providing books, pamphlets, curricula for First Day schools, and other materials in order to stimulate the spiritual development of Friends of all ages. FGC seeks to balance the need to operate the Bookstore as an efficient and responsible business with the primary mission of service to Friends, principally to those in the unprogrammed tradition. The Bookstore serves Friends through internet, mail, and telephone orders, consignments to yearly meetings and other Quaker events, and point of sale customers in the store at Pendle Hill. The bookstore at Pendle Hill is currently open Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 am to 5 pm and on Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm.
The Manager for QuakerBooks is the prime customer service person for the bookstore, oversees the day-to-day fulfillment of book orders and bookstore operations. This person has particular responsibility for tracking inventory, for financial management, ordering of stock, planning of marketing opportunities, website management, consignments, and volunteer oversight. This person also organizes and directs the operations of Gathering Store at the annual FGC Gathering of Friends, and manages transportation of stock to and shipping at that event. The Manager for QuakerBooks works with the FGC Publications and Distribution Committee and consults regularly with other FGC committees and staff.
