Wilton Quaker Meeting hosted a remembramce event at our meetinghouse on Deceember 8, 2018. There were five speakers who spoke of their loved ones lost to gun violence and the actions we can take to prevent such deaths in the future. About one hundred people were in attendance for this very moving event.
Quakers believe that there is something of the divine spirit in every human being. From this emanates the testimonies or principles that we try to live by. Among those are:
Simplicity, focusing on what is truly important and letting other things fall away;
Peace, seeking justice and healing for all people without resorting to violence;
Community, supporting one another in our faith journeys and in times of joy and sorrow; sharing with and caring for each other;
Equality, treating everyone, everywhere, as equally precious to God.
