Public ContentAnyone can view this post

Attached are articles recommended by our Ministry on Racism staff for Central Committee use.

Presented during the 2020 Central Committee meeting:
Sent with 2020 advance reports:
  • Blackwell - Why POC Need Space without white people [9 pages]
  • The Calderon + Wise article is general guidance for white on centering POC in anti-racism work. [10 pages]
  • The Carr article is a moving, more personal and emotional account about one Black man's experience of "Racial Battle Fatigue" [3 pages]
  • The Cole article is a more basic-level summary of anti-racism strategies, and mostly geared toward white people [3 pages]
  • The Hains article most directly correlates with our aim of offering white Central Committee members preemptive guidance on how to respond when "called in" about a racist statement or action. [3 pages]
  • The LeVine article is a more "advanced"/complex call for us to move beyond "anti-racism" (which still gives credence to race as "real' instead of socially constructed) into true abolition of whiteness. [4 pages]
  • The OCEE article is a handy-dandy one-pager that provides language for white people to constructively "call in" other white people when they say or do something racist.
