FGC’s Ministry on Racism Program sponsors retreats in the Spring and Fall for Adult Friends of Color to come together to build multigenerational community, respite and connection. Depending on the asks of the community, these retreats have often been for Friends of Color and their immediate family members but at times have also been for just Friends of Color.
Ministry on Racism also has offered quarterly Virtual Retreats for Youth of Color through 2022 and continues to consider youth of color ask’s as it plans ahead. The youth retreats are for all youth of color through High School age.
Yearly, Ministry on Racism offers the pre-Gathering Retreat for Friends of Color and their immediate family members to come together to create a community as a resource for the Gathering and beyond. This takes place the weekend before the Gathering.
All FGC Virtual Friend of Color Retreats are now pay as led, which means free to Friends of Color if they are unable to pay. We would appreciate any donations to FGC for these retreats. Donations help the organization pay for the staff time that goes into putting them together. You can donate here and specify that your donation should go to the Ministry on Racism. Thank you.
For financial assistance to attend a hybrid or in-person FGC Friend of Color retreat, FGC offers funding for Friends of Color through the Bayard Rustin Fund (for travel) and Mahala Ashley Dickerson fund (for related costs like registration, lodging, meals). If you would like to request funding from either fund please fill out the form for each through clicking on their links.
