FGC recommends the following tip for newcomers to the Quaker faith: Learn how to participate in the Quaker Coalition for Uprooting Racism.
The Quaker Coalition for Uprooting Racism, or QCUR, is a group of Friends who work together to transform Quaker culture. The work of cultural change has taken different form over time.

You can participate in the Quaker Coalition for Uprooting Racism by:
- visiting the home page
- reading about one transformative class experience
- attending a program. To see a list of related events, scroll to the bottom of this page
- learning about some of the key theory that guides QCUR
- signing up for the Racial Justice Quarterly Newsletter
- offering a donation to QCUR. Under ‘Please use my gift to support,’ select ‘Quaker Coalition for Uprooting Racism‘

The work of QCUR is based on the work of Niyonu Spann, a social justice leader and Friend from New England. Niyonu Spann leads workshops that transform the dynamics of oppression at the root level.
Many people who are involved in QCUR have ties to one of six Quaker institutions. These institutions that have committed to dismantling racism together:

A group that is related to QCUR is called Catalyzing Communities. This is made up of people who have completed the 9-month QCR program and people who helped to create it.
