Overview
Friends, young and old, play through Quaker history in this hands-on exploration of historical Friends from George Fox to present-day Friends in your monthly meeting. Adult volunteers prepare for the class by studying a historical Friend to prepare for role-playing in conversation with the class. The historical Friend dresses in simple period costume and carries small items they might have used in their life and work. Before the Friend emerges from the time machine, the class learns basic information about the Friend and generates interview questions. The conversation flows naturally with the Friend and the class exchanging information about their lives and their perceptions of seeking the Light. The class can choose to bring the historical Friend into Meeting for Worship and introduce them at the rise of worship. The series concludes with a review game and by inviting young Friends to envision themselves stepping through the Quaker time machine 50 years from now. What will they tell young Friends about their lives?
