AVP Training at Orange Grove Meeting

The Alternatives to Violence Project (Los Angeles) is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization offering experiential workshops in prisons, jails, and communities in and around Greater Los Angeles. Our mission is to build a movement of creative conflict resolution by empowering communities through individual and collective transformation. We are affiliated with AVP California, AVP USA and AVP International. The Basic Workshop engages in interactive practices designed to enhance awareness, self-esteem, nonviolent communication, conflict transformation, and community building. See www.avpla.org for more details on the program and concepts.

The workshop will be from 9:00am to 6:00pm on both days. Savannah Cooley will be the point person for these workshops and can be reached at savannahcooley@gmail.com.

The Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) has a strong connection to Santa Monica Meeting. Members of our Meeting, primarily Shan and Tanna, were pivotal in the establishment of AVP/LA which for years has conducted workshops in the Youth, Men’s, and Women’s prisons in Chino and in community settings. Our Meeting continues to financially support AVP/LA through our AVP committee.
