Santa Monica Friends Meeting
Welcome to Santa Monica Friends Meeting!
Meeting for Worship is held every Sunday at 10-11 am. All are welcome. After Meeting we gather for refreshments and fellowship.
First Day School (Sunday School) for children and youth, and childcare for infants and preschoolers is from 10:15-11:15. Children are invited to join their families in meeting for worship from 10:00-10:15.
Santa Monica Friends Meeting is part of the Religious Society of Friends (also known as Quakers). Our meetings for worship are held in expectant silence with no formal program or clergy. Each worshiper seeks to listen to the Spirit of God within. If that spirit brings to any of us a message that seems clearly to speak to the condition of others, we may rise to give that message as vocal ministry.
As Friends we endeavor to translate our religious beliefs into everyday life, seeking to “let our lives speak.” Simplicity, equality, integrity, and peace/nonviolence are ideals toward which we strive both in our lives and in the world.
Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, we invite you to join us in silent worship and reflection.
We have a small parking lot behind our Meeting house, and there is free parking (Sundays) on Santa Monica Blvd. Please do not park in front of the meeting house on Harvard Street. It is reserved for neighborhood residents only and you may receive a parking ticket.
I have a dream that one day…the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood. – M. L. King, Jr.
