Karter Kane Reed

A fundraiser for Quaker Voluntary Service was held on Feb. 1 at 7:00 PM at the Meetinghouse.  Karter Kane Reed share a heart-wrenching story of the circumstances around his arrest, conviction, and sentence of life in prison, beginning when he was 16 and ending with his parole at 37 years of age.  He described the support he received from others on the inside and the important role of the Alternatives to Violence Project in his transformation from a lost teenager into a man seeking to honor the victim of his crime, as well as those who supported him while he was imprisoned.  Karter and other AVP facilitators shared their experiences with this life-changing program.
