What's New

The Framingham Friends Meeting First Day School (children's program) is growing, with 11 children now on our list (although not all attend each week).  Upcoming events:

We held our annual Christmas Celebration on Sunday December 17 after Meeting for Worship.  We heard about the American Friends Service Committee, and why we decorate our Christmas tree with donations to AFSC.  The First Day School put wrapped boxes representing "simple gifts" under the Christmas tree - things like helping a neighbor shovel snow - and other adults in the meeting added their own simple gifts.  We heard "The Giveaway, a Christmas Story".  Our talented musicians sang and played: the Friendly Singers, "Christmas in the Trenches" (about informal truces between opposing forces on

Moses Morenga has been a pastor in a "programmed" Quaker meeting (worship more like a typical Protestant service) in Kenya for the past 25 years, holding leadership positions in the yearly meeting as well as in his local and quarterly meetings.  He graduated from Friends Theological College and Covenant Bible College.  He was active in organizing the Peace Walk Caravan around his town of Mumias, which included distribution of food, clothes, and wheelchairs to the physically challenged.  He is married and has 4 daughters; his family is also supporting one orphan.

Framingham Meeting's First Day School ("Sunday School") hosted a BBQ and campout Oct.

The Quaker Meetings in the Boston region had a joint program on October 22 to share and learn about "outreach" or ways to invite people to try the Quaker spiritual journey.

The FFM First Day School obtained a rainbow PEACE flag from Common Street Spiritual Center in Natick, and attached it to the meetinghouse sign along Edmands Rd.  This replaces the faded rainbow PACE flag that hung for a long time on a wall inside.  The First Day School had a lesson on "Discernment" practicing what to do about some of the pictures and posters that were taken off the walls for painting, and one of our young ones suggested we should not only replace the faded flag, but fly it visibly outside the meetinghouse.  Job accomplished on June 11, 2017!
