Many community organizations planned private screenings of The Color Purple in late 2023 and early 2024. Interest grew quickly as the release date got closer. Quaker meetings and other local groups wanted to see it together. Flyers for several screenings are listed below. They are kept here for archival purposes only. They are not an invitation to attend, since the screenings already took place.

FGC’s original intention was to help connect Quakers to local screenings. The goal was simple. We wanted to gather flyers in one place. This way, Friends could find a screening nearby without searching on their own. At first, this felt manageable. Only a handful of organizations had announced screenings.

A joyful problem came next. More organizations began planning their own screenings. The closer we got to the release date, the longer the list grew. New flyers kept appearing faster than we could track them. There were simply not enough hours in the day to keep up! Tracking every announcement became its own project, well beyond the original purpose of this page.

These events were found by searching The Color Purple screening on Facebook. This turned up event pages from meetings, churches, and other groups across many regions. These listings came from public Facebook pages, not one coordinated source. So the list below is only a snapshot of what we found at the time.
