Meeting for Worship + Business, 03/25/2018

Present: Dawn Crimson, Treasurer; Tom Hensold, Clerk: Kathy Cotton, Michael Batinski, Jill Adams, Maurine Pyle

The Meeting addressed there was no Recording Clerk and after silence, it was suggested that anyone could fill the role as a temporary basis. After more silence, the Clerk offer to record the minutes if another would assist to Clerk the Meeting. Maurine offered to assist with Clerk for the meeting.

The meeting was started with worship in silence.

Dawn gave the treasury reports for both January and February. January starting Operations balance was $1554.18. The ending balance was $1317.96. The January Ministry account balance is 137.47. Total balance with money market account is 4451.02. The February report showed starting Operating Fund at $1317.96 and ending Operating Fund at $841.96; Ministry Fund at 147.47; grand total with Money Market at $3985.48.

The Meeting discerned that Quaker literature that was not taken by members/attenders be donated to local libraries, events. This included the Monthly Friends Journals.

The Meeting discerned to review the section in the Faith and Practice pertaining to Worship for Business for the April 15, 2nd hour discussion. The Clerk suggested it might help address our need for a Recording Secretary/Clerk.

The Meeting heard an offer from FWCC to have a visitor Traveling Minister. It was discerned that Maurine could contact them for such a visit.

The Meeting reviewed the June 2nd Clerking Workshop being offered, by Arthur Larrabee, at Downers Grove. We are hoping one can attend, but no one has come forth at this time.

The Meeting read a note from Chris Jocius, about the above workshop, and of the receipt of Memorial Writings of George McPherson. Some members gave a fond memory of George.

It was noted the next State of the Meeting writing is due in April. It was suggested that those attending the April 1st Meeting and potluck start this discerning process on that Sunday.

Maurine offered to have a Quaker educational table at the Margie Parker teach-in. Jill offered to assist with that task. These offers were acknowledged and gratitude expressed.

Jill noted an event on April 3rd at the Civic Center titled “A Responsible Budget Coalition,” and this was discerned to be posted in our minutes. 

The Meeting discerned that in the April Business Meeting for Worship, greetings be sent to Justin Leverett and Mariam, as they prepare for marriage. Then to plan for similar greeting in May for Adam Alexander’s marriage.

The Meeting closed in silent worship.
