Minutes Details:

6/26/22 Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business

Attending: Jill Adams (clerk), Tom Hensold (recording clerk), Dawn Crimson (treasurer), Joseph Parr, Dennis Holtzclaw

1. The meeting opened with silent worship.

2. The Treasurer's reports from April and May were accepted.  Operating fund balance at the end of May is $1,101.67. The insurance premium in August is to be $418 (up from about $300). Dawn offered to investigate the reasons, and report back to the meeting. The meeting greatly appreciates Dawn's attention to this matter.

3. Afghan refugee project: We continue to support working with the family in Afghanistan for whom we have arranged an application for Humanitarian Parole. We will arrange a meeting with Jess M. to discuss best ways forward. We appreciate the pro bono assistance of Diane Speir and recognize her impending retirement will affect steps going forward. This is a Ministry project for the Meeting.

4. Attending to visitors with children: The meeting realized that same-day changes in our worship format to include child participation would be more practical, given our size and our environment. Jill has offered to reach out to recent visitors to encourage their return and offer our plans to include the children. In addition we will arrange a Life of the Meeting to include other children.

5. Next Life of the Meeting - suggested at Castle Park, either 7/23/22 or 7/30/22 from 4:30pm-7:00pm. Jill will see if Kris, Adriane and Russell could participate.

6. We propose Maurine Pyle's Celebration of Life service the fourth weekend of September (24th-25th), held locally in Carbondale with a hybrid Zoom-style format, to be conducted in the manner of Friends. Dawn will approach the Interfaith Council for suggestions for a venue before confirming a date/time. Jill will inform the family and extend the invitation. We are not prepared to offer hospitality for traveling visitors.

7. Friends from Lake Forest Friends Meeting inquired about a memorial for Maurine. Jill offered to contact their Clerk to inform them of our plans and to extend an invitation.

8. The Meeting agreed to look carefully at the ILYM annual sessions minute regarding election integrity. Dawn will obtain the minute and the referenced report links and post them to our new Groups list -- via email to siqm-list@googlegroups.com
