If you have never attended a Friends’ Meeting for Worship, this is what you may expect:

Meetings for worship in the Dallas Friends Meeting are held on Sunday (First Day) mornings at 10:00 AM and Wednesday evenings at 7:30 PM. These meetings for worship generally last an hour. You are welcome to visit before Worship.

The meeting for worship is based on silence, in which each individual enters personally into communion with God. In the silence we seek to become aware of the presence of God and wait expectantly for guidance from the Inward Christ, the Inner Light. This guidance may be purely personal. At other times, it will seem to be meant for the others at the meeting, and the worshiper may then share that message. This is called "vocal ministry." Following the spoken message, we return to the silence to examine ourselves in the Light of that message.

At ten minutes before the hour, an appointed person invites worshipers to share any joys, sorrows, or concerns they may have, so the meeting may hold them in the Light.

Meeting for worship ends when one Friend, designated in advance, shakes hands with his or her neighbors and the worship meeting ends.

After meeting for worship, we all introduce ourselves and announcements are made.  Coffee and light refreshments are served for a short social period.  We are especially blessed when visitors stay and talk with us about themselves and what brought them to our meeting.
