Westtown Meeting Forum: "Reflections on Israel and Palestine"
Jon Evans and Melissa Graf-Evans moved to Jerusalem in the summer of 1992 with one child and left five years later with three children. While there, Jon served as the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Country Representative for Jerusalem, West Bank, and Gaza, and Melissa taught English to 5th graders at the Ramallah Friends School (RFS). The family attended Ramallah Friends Meeting, and Jon served on the RFS Board. Jon has returned to the Middle East on short-term assignments with the American Friends Service Committee and the Friends Committee on National Legislation. This past March, Melissa and Jon organized and led the 10th consecutive annual Westtown School educational trip to Israel/Palestine. They have also lived and worked in West Africa and Southeast Asia.
On July 31st, Melissa and Jon will share highlights of their experiences and insights gleaned in working for human rights, justice and peace in Israel/Palestine and beyond, followed by discussion. Members of the Westtown Meeting and Westtown School community who have traveled to the Holy Land will also be present to share their perspectives.
The presentation and discussion will follow the Westtown Monthly Meeting Lake Supper. Lake Supper starts at 6:30pm. This is a potluck meal.
