Welcome to Roanoke Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends

Sharing Spiritual Journeys - Group Sharing

The Religious Education Committee announces an exciting return, with a variation. The return is to our spiritual journey sharings, discontinued when Covid hit. What Zoom has happily taught is that meeting in person is not essential to deep sharing. So beginning on the 4th Monday in March, the 27th, Kent Walton will kick off our return with picking up where he left off over two years ago! Having then laid the foundation of his journey, his focus now will be what it was that brought him to the Quakers.

The variation mentioned above is that the next 4th Monday (April 24) the focus will continue to be on the spiritual journey, but it will include all who are present. A reading or query will be selected that all can respond to from the particular perspective of their own journey. It will be a more free-flowing exchange similar to what happens after Sunday worship when folks hang around after announcements to follow Spirit’s often mirthful, unfailingly rich lead.

To recap the monthly offerings of the Religious Education Committee:

  • The FIRST Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm will continue to have an "outward focus" with other committees contributing.

  • The SECOND Monday of each month at 7:00 pm will continue to be an RE presentation.

  • The THIRD Monday each month at 6:30 pm will continue to be Quaker Reading Group.

  • And now the FOURTH Monday of each month at 7:00 pm, beginning Monday March 27, will focus on Spiritual Journeys, alternating between individual and group sharing.

Direct any questions to Charlie Finn, Susan Adams, or Judy Mott.

Repeats every month on April, June, August, October on the fourth Monday 10 times.
