This year marks the 30 year anniversary of the First National POC Environmental Leadership Summit, which was pivotal to shifting environmentalism to address environmental justice and which was attended by Memphis' own EJ pioneer Rita Harris. We'll watch highlights of the summit and then turn to Memphis, where we'll focus on EJ campaigns of then and now, such as the work of Memphian LaTricea Adams' Black Millennials 4 Flint and Memphis Community Against the Pipeline led by a committed group of South Memphians including Justin J. Pearson. Together we'll reflect on these campaigns in light of the 17 EJ principles adopted at the 1991 summit. Join us on Zoom.
