A Healthy Green Amendment for Maryland

Please join Frederick Friends’ Meeting to learn about The Healthy Green
Amendment, a proposed amendment to Maryland’s State Constitution.

Rabbi Nina Beth Cardin will describe the amendment and answer questions. Rabbi Cardin works at the
intersection of faith, nature and sustainability. She has served as national director for COEJL (the Coalition on
the Environment and Jewish Life); is Advocacy Co-Chair of the Pearlstone Jewish Sustainability Coalition in
Baltimore; founded the Baltimore Jewish Environmental Network and partnered with the Central Maryland
Ecumenical Council.

Kallan Benson is a 14-year old high school student and Quaker activist who works to promote a healthy
future for her own and future generations.

Maryland faith communities support the Healthy Green Maryland Amendment
because our faiths call us to:
• Care for the blessings of clean air and water entrusted to us, acting as their
guardians and stewards.
• Love our neighbors, protecting them with legal standing when they are harmed
by environmental injustice.
• Provide a safe future for rising generations, ensuring their right to a healthy
environment.
