Minutes Details:

Fox Valley Friends Meeting for Business, January 9, 2022 Final

Present: Carol C, Jim C, Sue F, Tina M, Francesca P, Mary K - Clerk

Approval of Minutes: Minutes from the November 14 meeting were read and approved for posting.
Treasurer’s Report: We ended 2021 with all bills paid and $1,510 in the bank.

New Business
New Clerk: The Clerk Search Committee has plans to meet soon so they can bring a
recommendation to the next Meeting for Business in March.

Reports from Coordinators of Work Projects
Budget: Jim presented the End of Year 2021 Financial Statement and a proposed budget for 2022
(attached). The proposed expense budget is the same as 2021. On the income side, the year-end
surplus from 2021 will be offset by expected reductions in 2022 contributions, leaving us with a
smaller surplus at the end of 2022. Adjustments can be made to the budget next fall after we learn
more about our income situation. We will continue giving our budgeted dollars for the Mauthe Center
to Feeding America until we resume worship there. We will ask Reed about whether the financial
situation of the Mauthe has changed and if we should be paying some rent for the space we continue
to use for our bookcase and First Day School supplies. Financial Statement and 2022 Budget was
approved without any changes.

Care of Meeting for Worship: Mary and Carol tested the technology available at the Mauthe
Center. The Mauthe is still waiting for their new equipment to get good WiFi throughout the building.
Until then they are using a hotspot connected to a cell phone. Making sure it is available to us each
Sunday will be problematic, although they are happy to give it a try. We would also like to get a
portable wireless microphone. Carol will check with Winnebago Friends to learn how to get the
microphone they are using which seems to work well. Given this technology situation and the current
rise in Covid, we decided to wait to move Worship back to the Mauthe. For now we will continue our
blended Meeting, with Zoom and in-person gathering at the home of Carol and Jim.
Carol sent out Christmas cards from FVFM and received several notes of greeting back. Dorothy is
doing well.

Sue F offered to post a Quaker quote in the Zoom Chat each Sunday after the start of Worship for
those who would like some spiritual enrichment. Members gratefully accepted the offer.

First Day School: After the success of the Thanksgiving event, Northern Yearly Meeting is offering
a second Zoom-based First Day School event in January.

Prison Ministry: Mary will reach out to Carol and Katie to set a time for an information sharing
meeting on FVFM prison ministry work. When the date is set, it will be e-mailed to everyone and
texted to Tina.

Potlucks: Next potluck discussions are January 21, February 18 and March 18. They will be hosted
by Sheila and all attendees are vaccinated. We are discussing excerpts from a book co-authored by the
late Francis Hole from Madison Monthly Meeting. Sheila sends out the excerpt each month to
expected attendees. Sue expressed interest in seeing the quotes and/or book.

Communications: Carol will work on an update of our FVFM Contact List.

Outreach: St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, along with GIFT, is continuing their series of interfaith
conversations during Jan, Feb, and March on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm. It is at St.
Anne’s (347 S. Libal Street, De Pere, 54115), and also live-streamed and available for later viewing
on St. Anne’s Facebook page. Each month will be a panel discussion around a new topic. Mary will
be representing the Quakers on the panel each month.

NYM: Carol is a new member of the NYM Nominating Committee. NYM is actively reaching out to
talk with members of color within NYM to understand their experiences.

Adult Education: Tina will send an e-mail with a link to “Reawakening: Return of Lightness and
Peace after My Daughter’s Murder” by her sister, Barb Mangi. This way people can watch it on their
own.

Next Meeting for Business: The next FVFM Meeting for Business will be March 13, 2022.

Respectfully submitted,
Mary Klos, Clerk
