Event Description
Are you curious about what makes Quaker decision-making special?
Have you ever wondered what is going on in the silence?
Regarding Quaker business and committees, have you ever thought:
I could do that!
I couldn’t possibly do that!
Why would anyone want to do that??
If so, apply for Many Hands Make Light Work, October 17-20 2024, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
This October, Friends General Conference (FGC) invites Friends aged 13-19 to attend Many Hands Make Light Work, an experiential workshop on Quaker decision-making.
You’ll get to sit in on parts of the annual meeting where FGC volunteers seek direction for the organization, and observe the many hands, the Light, and the work that go into the spiritual process of making decisions together in Quaker community. With adult facilitators and peers, you’ll discuss your own experiences of Quaker discernment and the tools that help us make Spirit-led decisions together without voting or hierarchy. We’ll explore Quaker process as a way to confront racism and other systems of oppression. After our time in person together, you’ll be invited to online sessions for further discussion and mutual support.
Please apply at the above link by September 16, 2024!
