Together we nurture the spiritual vitality of Friends

Evanston Friends Meeting

Welcome to Evanston Friends Meeting

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the global pandemic, all Evanston Friends Meeting events, including Meeting for Worship, Meeting for Business, Meetings for Learning, and all Religious Education programs and classes will be online-only until such time that we can again meet at the Meetinghouse.

We are currently meeting on Zoom. Click here to contact us for more information - all are welcome!

Evanston Friends Meeting is part of the Religious Society of Friends, otherwise known as the Quakers.

The Quaker way is grounded in our understanding that:

  • Each of us may experience the Divine directly;

  • Each person’s experience of the Divine is unique; and

  • There is that of God in each person and in all creation.

These understandings and experiences foster our growth and transformation. They also lead us to care for others near and far and for the world. We offer many opportunities to get involved. We would be happy to have you join us. We welcome you just as you are.

We worship by gathering in silence, waiting upon the Spirit within. Though the Quaker way grew from Christian roots, we have no creed, but are guided by queries and testimonies. There is no sermon or ritual. A spirit-led message to share with the community may arise through anyone.

If you have questions, please feel free to ask anyone. If you would like to receive further information about the Meeting, sign up for the newsletter, or have someone from the Meeting contact you, then please fill out a contact card on the table just outside the north Meeting Room door and place it in the marked basket. A Meeting member will follow up with you.

If you answer “yes” to any of these questions, this series is for you!  Various members and attenders of Quaker Meeting will facilitate discussions of aspects of the Quaker way.  You will have the opportunity to get to know the members of our community.
