Spiritual Life & Experience of Worship

  • Do your attenders believe that the presence of God is usually felt in your meetings for worship?
  • How will you nurture spiritual growth in your members and attenders?

Understanding of Quaker Process & Business Practice

  • Do your attenders understand the Quaker business process, especially the search for unity?
  • Do your attenders participate in business meetings?
  • Are your business meetings held in a spirit of worship?

Knowledge of Quaker History, Thought, and Disciplines

  • Do your attenders have sufficient knowledge of Quaker history and Quaker thought to test leadings?
  • With which Faith and Practice books (Disciplines) are your attenders familiar? Which do you rely on for guidance?

Connection to the Wider Society of Friends

  • What experience do attenders have with the Society of Friends outside your worship group—other Monthly Meetings, regional bodies, or Yearly Meetings?
  • Is your group aware of spiritual diversity among different Quaker branches?
  • Are your group’s beliefs consistent with Friends in Colorado General Meeting and Intermountain Yearly Meeting?

Testimonies, Witness, and Shared Values

  • Does your group embrace historic Quaker testimonies, including peace, simplicity, and social justice?

Membership Stability & Leadership Capacity

  • Will the Monthly Meeting have stable membership for the long term?
  • Does your group have enough members to fill roles such as clerk, recording clerk, and major committees?
  • Can responsibilities rotate so no one Friend carries too much?
  • How will you choose your officers?

Membership, Marriage, and Clearness Processes

  • Are your attenders familiar with clearness processes for membership, marriage, and decision-making support?
  • What guidelines and procedures will you use for membership or marriages under the care of the Meeting?

Quaker Weddings & Memorial Services

  • Are your attenders familiar with Quaker weddings and memorial services and how they are carried out?

Financial Readiness

  • Are your attenders ready to undertake the financial obligations of a Monthly Meeting?
  • Have you developed a budget?

Record-Keeping & Administration

  • How are records kept?
  • What is your plan for keeping minutes and maintaining membership records?

Pastoral Care & Oversight

  • Is your community prepared to care for members’ personal and material needs?
  • How will your Meeting fulfill responsibilities of Ministry and Oversight/Counsel?
