The Religious Society of Friends, commonly known as Quakers, has been worshipping at the Orchard Park Meetinghouse for 200 years.  Meeting in the manner of Friends is a period of meditative worship; in silence we seek to place ourselves in the presence of the Spirit.  All can speak from the silence as they are led.  A founding principle for Quakers  is that there is “that of God in every person” and that all people are  endowed with this “Inner Light”.  The traditional “Quaker Testimonies” include  Simplicity,  Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality, and Stewardship (sometimes collectively referred to as SPICES).  Many Friends have been drawn to Quaker Meetings because of the dual commitment to spiritual awareness and social action.  Friends work actively against all forms of oppression, including racism, sexism, and homophobia, and to promote environmental sustainability. What's New

Cristian Johnston was adopted at the age of four from the Aldea Infantil Virgen del Pilar, an orphanage in the San Martin Department of Peru, back in 2000. Eighteen years later, Cristian returned to explore his roots and was inspired to give back to his community of origin. The Peruvian Outreach Project, Inc., or POP, was created to do just that. Initially supported by the Orchard Park Friends Meeting, POP has expanded its outreach, with a mission to enhance the lives of vulnerable children and young adults living in the San Martin Department of Peru.

Advices and Queries have been important to the Religious Society of Friends since the beginning of Friends in the 17th century. Though they have been changed since that time they still are an important part of a statement of who we are.

In a nutshell, our branch of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) believe that everyone can have direct communication with the Spirit / God. We also believe that there is something of God in everyone, sometimes called the Light within.
