Friends General Conference

Together we nurture the spiritual vitality of Friends

Coming to the Table

I have a dream that one day…the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood. – M. L. King, Jr.

Our vision for the United States is of a just and truthful society that acknowledges and seeks to heal from the racial wounds of the past—from slavery and the many forms of racism it spawned.  At a time when hate seems to speak with the loudest voice, we come together, sit down at the table of brotherhood and speak truth with one another.

Together we will meet monthly to:

Uncover History: with openness and honesty
Make Connections: connect with others within and across racial lines to develop and deepen relationships
Work Toward Healing: explore how we can heal together
Take Action: actively seek to heal the wounds of racial inequality and injustice and support racial reconciliation between individuals, within families, and in communities
