Welcome . . .
We gather in silent worship every Sunday morning (First Day) at our meeting house set on six rural acres in the University City area of Charlotte. Large windows connect us to the natural world as we wait in silence for what spiritual light may come. All are welcome to share thoughts (messages) that arise from the gathered stillness. Most First Days we reach a deep communal silence before breaking for fellowship. Children join silent worship for the first 15 minutes and then go to First Day School, returning at the end of worship to share their lessons and projects.
Each week we welcome visitors who come to us as spiritual seekers, many with backgrounds in other faiths, others from non-religious backgrounds. Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, you will find Charlotte Friends Meeting a warm, active, multi-generational faith community, committed to the Quaker ethos of spirituality, peace, integrity, community, equality and stewardship.
*Unprogrammed refers to the practice of gathering together in silence, each able to stand and speak as they feel led, with worship ending when a designated Friend shakes hands with a neighbor. There is no paid ministry. Charlotte Friends Meeting is affiliated with The Religious Society of Friends (Quakers).
Join us for the annual gathering of Quakers from around the US, and the world.
