Samantha Wilson Welcomed as QuakerBooks of FGC Manager

FGC is pleased to welcome Samantha Wilson as Manager of QuakerBooks of FGC. Samantha will begin her new position in early September and work alongside interim manager Marta Rusek for a few weeks.

Samantha attended Atlantic City Friends School in New Jersey, and later attended Princeton Meeting as an adult. On moving further north, she became a member of Chatham-Summit Meeting. Samantha has resided in the Denver, Colorado area for the last several years, and is a member of IMYM’s Mountain View Friends Meeting. In addition to extensive administrative experience, she also has a background in retail.

“As a Friend who grew up with Quaker values, I understand deeply the need for our FGC bookstore, and the manner in which it provides a trusted and central source for resources valuable to Friends and those with similar interests. Its stock, book reviews, newsletter and reliability provide a service that we rely upon probably more than we realize,” Samantha wrote when she applied. “Being able to serve in a full-time capacity for an organization that fulfills a need for quality goods and spiritual development has been a dream of mine for some time. Not long ago, I read that goods are named as such because they were originally designed to bring “good”, by making life better in some way. To me, the early Friends’ belief in offering only quality work at a fair price is tied to an understanding that, while simplicity is important, there is honor in producing or purveying well-made items that fill a need and are designed with thought and attention. This idea of quality craft contributes to individual development while honoring Life’s design of abundance, and is how I feel about the bookstore.”

Please join us in welcoming Samantha to the FGC staff — and be certain to visit her at QuakerBooks of FGC on the Pendle Hill campus!
