BookMusings is the official eNewsletter of QuakerBooks & More. Each issue highlights books and themes carefully selected by bookstore staff for your enjoyment, as well as information about sales and other unique opportunities available to our readers. Below is the introductory text and table of contents.
February continues the crystalline stillness of winter, and brings us an official day to celebrate loving, another official day to celebrate two U.S. presidents we can look up to, and a full month to honor, explore, and share more about the innovators and pioneers, educators, leaders and many others who are a part of African American history. QuakerBooks & More is proud to carry titles year-round that describe the work of these individuals and their contributions - titles which empower and move forward our community of F/friends, activists and the spiritually curious.
Along with our regular features in this issue of BookMusings, we include a biography of Mary Ann Shadd Cary, the first female African American newspaper publisher and editor in North America, and later the second African American woman in the U.S. to earn a law degree. She also participated actively in many of the social and political movements that influenced the 19th century.
