dance party with dj postscript!

7pm EDT
Founder’s Green, Haverford College
Our final evening plenary will be a night of music and dancing for all ages outdoors! Come celebrate being together as we close our week at Haverford and prepare to bid farewell to Friends old and new. We will also be taking the first Gathering group photo in 20 years!
Get ready for an evening of music from a variety of genres and time spans (and for sure some Philly soul!) Friends are invited to dance in whatever way suits them. That could mean busting out your best moves, waving your arms from a seated position, twirling through the grass, or tapping your foot to the music. We’ll have a steady stream of bubbles and sidewalk chalk as well!
Elizabeth Piersol Schmidt (she/they) will provide the soundtrack. Elizabeth’s love of music curation began while making mixtapes for friends in middle school. Cassettes evolved into CDs and then playlists, and their first dj role was at a PhlYM Young Friends gathering. Flash forward to 2020, they joined a twice-weekly online dance party during the pandemic and learned how to edit audio to become one of the rotating djs. Elizabeth appreciates movement in all its forms, and particularly loves how dance can help release stress & tension, move through emotions, provide a creative outlet, and be a source of joy.
Elizabeth is a member of West Philadelphia Friends Meeting, is the former Conference Coordinator for FGC, and currently serves as co-clerk of Earth Quaker Action Team. You can listen to some of their mixes on mixcloud.
