Shuttle Transportation

From Portland, OR: Groome Transportation runs a shuttle every 90 minutes between the Portland International Airport and Salem, OR, with a stop at the Salem Holiday Inn. More information or book a Groome Transportation shuttle.
Then to get from Salem to Western Oregon University, sign up for the FGC connection shuttle below.

From Salem, OR: FGC will be running a van connection at certain times to connect between Western Oregon University, the Salem Holiday Inn, and the Salem Amtrak Station.

We are planning the FGC connection to run during the following times:
Friday 6/30 (earliest connects to 11:45am shuttle, latest to 8:30pm shuttle)
Saturday 7/1 (earliest connects to 11:45am shuttle, latest to 8:30pm shuttle)
Sunday 7/2 (earliest connects to 9:15am shuttle, latest to 9:45pm shuttle)
Wednesday 7/5 arriving (earliest connects to 11:45am shuttle, latest to 8:30pm shuttle)
Wednesday 7/5 departing (earliest connects to 6:55am shuttle, latest to 8:40pm shuttle)
Saturday 7/8 (earliest connects to 6:55am shuttle, latest to 11:55am shuttle)

Salem is about a 25 minute drive from Monmouth. You can reserve a spot on the FGC shuttle through your Gathering registration. We are also looking for shuttle drivers!

We ask all passengers and drivers to wear masks during transport to limit COVID exposure leading up to the the Gathering.

Shuttle Reservations

From Portland, OR to Salem, OR: Groome Transportation runs a shuttle every 90 minutes between the Portland International Airport and Salem, OR, with a stop at the Salem Holiday Inn. Book through the Groome Transportation website for a small discount. You can book over the phone at 877-693-3785.

To reserve a shuttle make sure you know:

  • The date and scheduled time of arrival (or departure) and which airport/station you are arriving at
  • How many people are in your group
  • Where you are coming from (or going to), including flight/train numbers.

From Salem, OR to Western Oregon University in Monmouth, OR:

  • If you have not already registered for the Gathering, select an FGC shuttle when you register.
  • If you have already registered, you can add an FGC shuttle to your registration by following these steps.

Wheelchair and Special Needs

Groome Transportation Shuttle from Portland to Salem

  • If you are able to get into a vehicle without a ramp or lift, and your wheelchair/scooter breaks down and can be stowed, you should be able to use a regular vehicle with Groome Transportation.
  • If you need a ramp or lift vehicle, contact Groome at 877-693-3785 to make a reservation.

If you need a ramp or lift vehicle, please indicate that when reserving a shuttle on your Gathering registration.

Child Car Seat Laws in Oregon

You will need to provide your own car seats for young children using the shuttle.

Follow these state laws:

  • ​Child Safety Seat Law: Child passengers must be restrained in child safety seats until they weigh forty pounds or reach the upper weight limit for the car seat in use. Infants must ride rear-facing until they reach two years of age.
  • Booster Seat Law: Children over forty pounds or who have reached the upper weight limit for their forward-facing car seat must use a child seat with harness or a booster to 4’9″ tall or age eight and the adult belt fits correctly.

Shuttle Frequently Asked Questions

FGC is offering a shuttle connector between Salem, OR and Western Oregon University in Monmouth, OR. Register for a shuttle by July 8.

If you have not already registered for the Gathering, select a shuttle when you register.

If you have already registered, you can add a shuttle to your registration by following these steps:

Option A (easiest method): Use link in primary registrant’s confirmation email

  1. Follow the “Click here to view your registration” link from the primary registrant’s confirmation email
  2. Click “Already registered?”
  3. Enter Confirmation Number (it’s in your confirmation email)
  4. Click “Log In” button
  5. Click “Modify Registration” button
  6. Click “Next” until you reach the “Housing, Meals, & Activities” page
  7. Select the Arrival and Departure shuttles you want
  8. On the “Arrival & Travel” page, enter details about your travel plans
  9. Click “Next” Button until you see a FINISH button
  10. Click FINISH

Option B: Use generic link to completed registration forms

  1. Use this link for the Gathering.
  2. Enter primary registrant’s name and email address, exactly as entered on the registration form
  3. Enter Confirmation Number (it’s in the primary registrant’s confirmation email, or you click on the request button)
  4. Click “Log In” button
  5. Click “Modify Registration” button
  6. Click “Next” until you reach the “Housing, Meals, & Activities” page
  7. Select the Arrival and Departure shuttles you want
  8. On the “Arrival & Travel” page, enter details about your travel plans
  9. Click NEXT Button until you see a FINISH button
  10. Click FINISH

If you are coming in too late at night to the airport to get a shuttle to the Holiday Inn in time to meet the FGC connection, you have several options:

  • Plan to stay the night at a hotel by the airport and get a Groome shuttle from the airport the next morning.
  • Take a Groome shuttle to the Salem Holiday Inn and then stay the night there, taking an FGC connection shuttle the next day.
  • Sign-up on the carpool list for a ride or to share a rental car
