Lisa Graustein is a founding host of Three Rivers Meeting, in New England Yearly Meeting. Lisa’s current call to ministry among Friends is centered on noticing, interrupting, and transforming patterns of oppression as we enact them so that we can build a more faithful, inclusive, and just Religious Society.
Originally trained as a social studies and math teacher, Lisa taught in public schools in Boston for 20 years and now trains teachers and non-profit staff. In her first year teaching, Lisa was the only out teacher in a middle school with 1,000 students and worked to make the school more welcoming to LGBTIAQ+ students and families. At every school she worked at subsequently, she co-founded staff diversity & equity committees, facilitated trainings, and worked to ensure equity for her students and colleagues across race, class, gender, sexual orientation religious, ability, and documentation identities. Lisa served for many years as staff and coordinator for the NEYM Young Friends program and is a co-facilitator of the Beyond Diversity 101 workshops. She is also a mom and artist, living on Neponset Band of the Massachusett homeland land known as Boston.
