When to Arrive
The first Gathering event is dinner on Sunday, June 28. All Friends are welcome to arrive Saturday, June 27 if they wish (additional charges will apply.) Some Friends will arrive Friday, June 26 to participate in pre-Gathering events or to serve in particular volunteer roles.
Before you finalize your travel plans consider reasons to arrive Saturday.

- Attend the mandatory training for Junior Gathering staff (starts Sunday at 10am) OR the mandatory training for High School staff (starts Saturday 9AM).
Not all clusters may be available when you select early housing. Friday night housing is available only for pre-Gathering attenders and invited volunteers.

We will be using the Roanoke-Blacksburg (ROA) regional airport. Roanoke/Blacksburg Airport Transportation can provide transportation to and from campus. Contact them via email (preferred) at [email protected] or phone 540-345-7710 to book — say you are coming for the FGC Gathering. Make your reservations by Monday, June 8. Buy your airline tickets early! We expect prices to increase as we near the Gathering.
For the train to Gathering, we will be using the Roanoke, VA Amtrak Station. Roanoke is served by one train per day coming from the north, and is the end of a spur line. Roanoke/Blacksburg Airport Transportation can provide transportation to and from campus. Make your reservations by Monday, June 8. Learn more about Amtrak Transportation.

Megabus stops at the Christiansburg, VA Park n Ride, about 14 miles from Radford. To get from Christiansburg to Radford, we suggest using a rideshare service (listed below.) The line that stops in Christiansburg runs between Washington, DC, and Atlanta, GA. To search schedules and purchase a ticket, visit the Megabus website.
There is not public transit that serves Radford in the summer, aside from an in-town bus. Both Lyft and Uber operate in Radford and the surrounding area. Roanoke Yellow Cab is a taxi service that operates in Roanoke. Text-a-Cab operates in Blacksburg and Christiansburg, VA.
The Radford University campus is located in Radford, Virginia, about 40 miles southwest of Roanoke, VA. View driving directions to Radford University. An email will be sent about a week before the Gathering with details on where to arrive on campus for Check-In.
Be green and arrive at the Gathering with a full car! Indicate your interest in carpooling when you register, and FGC will tell you how to contact other carpoolers.
After you have registered, to view the carpool list, you must have the registration confirmation number listed in the e-mail instructions. Once you get to your Registration Summary page, click on upper INFORMATION tab at the top (just under the Gathering logo) and then click on CARPOOL LIST tab on the next line down.
