2019 Junior Gathering Staff Information

Junior Gathering is made possible through the gifts and dedicated work of nearly 100 loving adults. Each group of children has an experienced Coordinator that takes the lead on planning the week for that group. The Coordinator is joined by support staff to work with the children during the morning (8:45 - 12:30) or evening (6:30 - 9:15) sessions.

I’d like to work with Junior Gathering. What do I do?

1) Read our staff expectations

2) Read our job descriptions

3) Complete a Junior Gathering Staff Application. *We are no longer accepting JG Staff applications for 2019.

4) Complete Online Child Safety Training

Note: New applicants and those who haven't served with Junior Gathering since 2017 are required to provide references.  See "Requirements" on the job descriptions above for details.

Arrival for training on Sunday 6/30/19 at 11:00 am (12 noon for lunch if Online Child Safety Training is completed by June 29, 2019)

Email Marian Dalke ([email protected]) if you have questions about your reference status.

“The young staff I worked alongside were enthusiastic and spent their time directly with the children with attention and love.” –Acorns staff

Workgrants

Workgrants are available according to need for Junior Gathering Staff positions. Up to a 50% Basic Fee* workgrant may be awarded for morning support staff and up to a 40% may be awarded for evening support staff. Please be sure to indicate the amount of your financial need on your Gathering Registration. Taking less than the maximum enables more Friends to come to Gathering by freeing up some funding. Though you’re entitled to a full work grant, please only accept the amount necessary. Consider taking advantage of applying for a scholarship through your Monthly or Yearly Meeting. We don’t want to make it a hardship for people to serve on Junior Gathering staff, so please ask for what you need!

If bringing your children is a barrier for you to attend, there is additional funding this year that has reduced children’s program costs.

*Basic Fee: Program fee and room and board in a double room with three meals.

Other volunteers serve in the afternoon at the Family Place or by helping with multigenerational activities.

Many Friends have found that serving Junior Gathering in one of these capacities is an enriching personal growth experience.
