Wilton Friends Meeting will hold a memorial service to remember Jim Fowler on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 3:00 pm. The service will be in the manner of the Society of Friends (Quakers) and last about one hour. Following the service, friends and family will move to the Silvermine-Fowler Preserve (NCLT) at 763 Silvermine Road, New Canaan, CT to honor Jim in the outdoor environment that he so loved. Casual dress suitable for a walk in the woods is appropriate.
Jim came from a Quaker family and was involved with Quakers from a young age, attending Westtown School and Earlham College. He became an example and advocate for the Quaker testimony of Stewardship and Care of the Earth. Jim traveled to all seven continents as a co-host of “Wild Kingdom” and was a regular on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, always encouraging people to participate in and preserve the natural world. Jim and his family have been regular attenders at Wilton Friends Meeting for many years.
