Peace & Social Concerns Invites You to a Conversation about Nuclear Weapons

East Tennessee made the first two nuclear weapons dropped on Japan and continues to make the key components in every nuclear weapon in the US arsenal. Come and enjoy soup with F/friends and get more informed on what's happening in our own backyard and beyond.

"If the U.S. carries out all of its plans for modernizing and maintaining the nuclear arsenal, it will cost $494 billion over the next decade, an average of just less than $50 billion per year, a new government estimate has found. The number, part of a biannual estimate put out by the Congressional Budget Office, is 23 percent over the previous estimate of $400 billion released in 2017. That 2017 figure was a 15 percent increase over the 2015 number." --Defense News

Peace & Social Conncerns invites you to a public conversation with Joseph Leonard Rodgers of the Alliance for Nuclear Accountability about the realities of nuclear weapons production and proliferation today, and the role of such weapons in serving US national security interests. Our intention is to listen, seek to understand diverse viewpoints, and speak respectfully with one another. In addition to questions from attenders, Mr. Rodgers will be asked to address the question of whether individuals, groups, and governments should support the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.
