Testimonies for the Soul

Worship & Ministry hosts an adult religious education series, Testimonies for the Soul, beginning in February. Quakers have five “testimonies” that are important in our spiritual lives – Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality, and sometimes Stewardship. We will explore four of these testimonies in depth and look at ways they can guide us in our encounter with Reality, Quaker community and our world. One testimony will be explored each of four Tuesday evenings. We will gather in the Social Room of West Chester Meeting House at 5:45 pm and conclude at 7 pm. You may attend one session or all of them.

Simplicity – February 13

Peace – February 20

Integrity – February 27

Equality – March 6

Thomas Swain and Chris Smith will facilitate using traditional presentations and group learning focusing on how testimonies help your Quaker practice. If you have an interest in Quakerism or if you are seasoned Quaker, you are welcome to participate. Thomas Swain is a teacher of Quakerism and has traveled in Quaker ministry amongst British Friends for the last 10 years. He is a member of Middletown Meeting, retired public school librarian, and a resident of Crosslands. Chris Smith is a long-time member of West Chester Meeting. She has served on multiple committees for her meeting, Concord Quarterly Meeting, and Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. She also co-facilitated various presentations through the years, including Quaker Testimonies. Chris is a retired neonatal clinical nurse specialist who now volunteers at Rhyerss Farm for Retired and Abused Equines.

Repeats every week every Tuesday until Tue Mar 06 2018.
