Saturday

10am-noon – Gift Boxes or Entrelac Hats

Claudia Wilson will share how to make small gift boxes from holiday and birthday cards. Tiny box materials required: old greeting cards, any type or season, a ruler, a pencil (and sharpener), some invisible tape and a good pair of scissors. A stiff board or surface for use when measuring and folding would be handy. There are some card tables in the basement but if people want to sit in other areas they will need a hard surface on which to work.

Prudence Ingerman will start knitting Friends on an Entrelac hat project - Here is what you need: 16 inch circular needle size US 6 or 7. You will also need a set of double-pointed needles the same size as your needle. A total of about 100 grams of worsted weight yarn, wool or acrylic or wool blends. This is a great opportunity to use up scraps of different colors.
Interested people should come with 76 stitches already cast-on and upon which they have knit about an inch or 1.5 inches of favorite ribbing, so that we could all start the entrelac part together-ish. To make this hat you only need to know how to knit, purl and count to seven. It looks MUCH harder than it really is. Please do not panic at the double-pointed needles,  you only use them very briefly. You can choose to close up the hat with some simple stripes, or a bit of Fair Isle or make it open into a Bun Hat. All those choices are simple and very do-able. Prudence is a patient teacher!
