The Peace and Social Action Committee's charity of the month for April is The Tree People, a non-profit that “inspires and supports the people of LA to come together to plant and care for trees, harvest the rain, and renew depleted landscapes.”
Information on this organization’s various programs can be gleaned by visiting their website, www.treepeople.org.
We are encouraging Community members to consider donating to the Tree People by writing a check made out to the Santa Monica Friends Meeting, noting “Trees” in the check’s memo line, and mailing it to the Meeting House at 1440 Harvard Street, Santa Monica 90404. At the end of the month, our treasurer, Gail, will total the donations and send a check, along with a letter from our Meeting, to the Tree People.
On Sunday, April 18, Mandy Richardville, Kathy Francis, and Curtis Raynor will host an hour’s long appreciation of the importance of trees in our lives.
We invite everyone to join us for that 1 - 2 PM Zoom presentation, AND, in preparation for our gathering, we invite each of you to send in 1 or 2 of your favorite tree photos for us to include in a tree slideshow.
Further, we hope to have time during that program for the sharing of important memories or associations related to trees.
Email your 1 or 2 tree photos to Curtis (curtisraynor@yahoo.com) and we will forward them to Mandy who will make the slideshow magic happen.
We hope to see you then and we hope you will consider supporting the Tree People by sending a donation to the Meeting.
