PARTICIPATE IN BALTIMORE YEARLY MEETING ANNUAL SESSIONS!
Dear Friends,
A last minute encouragement for Roanoke Friends to participate in the 2020 Baltimore Yearly Meeting…
Years ago, back in Illinois, a Friend asked me if I was going to attend Yearly Meeting. I responded, “I don’t know…. What’s Yearly Meeting?” It would be a few years before I did go to Illinois Yearly Meeting, but it quickly came to be a very important part of my life. I got a deeper and wider experience of Quakers, I gained life-long friends, I fell in love…
The annual sessions of Baltimore Yearly Meeting is the once a year gathering of Quakers from Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia and parts of West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Friends from 53 Monthly Meetings, Preparative Meetings and Worship Groups attend. Usually about 600 Quakers are present.
Because of the Covid-19 plague, BYM is gathering online this year. This will be very different but it is a chance to experience something of annual sessions. The upside is no travel and cost will be low. And you can pick and choose what you want to explore. Suggested fee is $100 but, of course, you can contribute less.
Annual sessions will occur on July 22 and 24, then begin every day from July 27 to August 2.
Activities during the week include a retreat, worship-sharing, workshops, intervisitation lounge, Meeting for Business, and speakers. As well, there is Junior Yearly Meeting for children.

There is a whole world of Quakerism outside our wonderful little Meeting! Hope to see you at the 2020 Baltimore Yearly Meeting annual sessions!
