Friendship and Fellowship

Newcomers 

First Day Fellowship Time
Visitors, newcomers, members, attenders, and children are invited to get together for coffee, snacks, conversation, and fellowship in RFM's Garden Room every Sunday following the meeting for worship.  Volunteers are needed to help make coffee, set up and clean up.
Fishes and Loaves Potluck
During the Second Hour of the fifth Sunday, Friends join together for a potluck and fellowship.  Everyone is welcome to dine with us.  Friends bringing food are requested to identify ingredients for our Friends with dairy, gluten, and meat restrictions.
Greeters
Are you a "people" person? If so, we need you to help meet and greet visitors, attenders, and Friends before the Sunday morning worship service. 
Quakerism 101
Approximately once a year, a Quakerism 101 class is offered for newcomers to the meeting (and oldtimers) wishng to learn more about Quaker practice and history.

Education

Second Hours
Second Hour programs often involve presentations or discussions related to spiritual growth, the Quaker Testimonies, or ways to better various aspects of our world or community.  One week each month is devoted to a discussion of a set of Queries from our Faith and Practice book.

Book Discussion Group
In addition to Second Hours focused on sharing favorite books, one or more books are discussed together in reading groups throughout the year.  Previous books include Douglas Gwyn's A Sustainable Life: Quaker Faith and Practice in the Renewal of Creation and Michelle Alexander's im Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness.

Movies with Meaning
The meeting joins together the evening of the third Thursday of each month to view a movie with value beyond mere entertainment. 

Social Events

First Seventh Night
Each first Saturday, Friends join together for a potluck followed by either a movie or games.  Friends bringing food are requested to identify ingredients for our Friends with dairy, gluten, and meat restrictions.

Meeting-wide Events
Raleigh Friends organizes a variety of dinners and other social events for members and friends throughout the year. Typical events include Easter Egg hunt, lake picnics, and Thanksgiving dinners. 

Raleigh Quakers Films Series
Raleigh Friends Meeting regularly show movies related to Quaker beliefs of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship as part of our First Seventh Night events and Movies with Meaning. 


Spiritual Development

Meeting-wide Worship
Raleigh Friends organizes a variety of opportunities for Friends to worship throughout the year in addition to Sunday morning worship. Typical events include Christmas Eve worship.

Silent Retreats
Raleigh Friends Meeting irregularly hold all-day silent retreats. 


Spiritual Practices Groups

Bible Study
In the past, Raleigh Friends has held Bible Study groups.  Those interested in participating may email friends@raleighquakers.org to join. 

Mid-week Centering Worship
On the first and third Wednesday evenings, Friends meet in members' homes for worship.

Quaker Seminar
Held either during Second Hours or during the evening, Quaker Seminar gives those new and old to Quakerism an opportunity to deepen their knowledge about Quaker practice and belief.


Social Groups

Quakers Crafters
Quakers meet monthly to craft together in each other's homes.  Crafters of all varieties are welcome.
