Want to know more about the Quaker way?

Here are links to a few resources.

Basics for Newcomers is a quick overview of Quaker beliefs and practices.  Silence and Speech by Richard Allen is written for people who want a deeper understanding of Quaker worship. Friends and Worship is another such introduction by Douglas Steere.

For something a little longer than these articles, but shorter than the typical book, you can order The Quaker Way from QuakerBooks of FGC.  This 70-page booklet was developed for children of middle school age, but has been almost as popular with their parents as a simple explanation of Quaker beliefs, values, and practices.

Finally, you can check out any of the other publications on our list of recommended readings for people learning about Quakers.

Letters to a Fellow Seeker introduces the Quaker way to a newcomer in language that is personal and gentle, while offering powerful inspiration through stories.

Quaker trivia:

Did you know that U.N. Day is observed on William Penn's birthday?  Quaker William Penn wrote an essay in 1693 detailing a plan to preserve peace in Europe.  That plan is very similar to the present United Nations.
