FCNL Advocacy Team Training - August 1, 2017

Earlier this month several Penn Valley members/attenders engaged in a conference call with Emily Savin from FCNL about our working together with FCNL to become more effective in working with our senate and congressional legislators.  Essentially, we agreed to create what FCNL calls an Advocacy Team associated with Penn Valley Meeting to learn how to work together in impacting the approaches and policies adopted by our representatives in Washington, D.C.

The Advocacy Team approach provides a clear, well-structured program that teaches one how to be most effective in dealing with legislators around issues of concern.  FCNL provides lots of support for local teams, from the national network, and from experienced lobbyists at FCNL.  The program provides a great opportunity for anyone who is saying, “I feel I need to do something, but I’m not sure what to do or how to be most effective.”  And, really, isn’t that most of us in this time of political chaos and upheaval?

Now’s your chance to see how you might get involved—beginning with those important first steps!  On the evening of Tuesday, August 1st, Emily Savin from FCNL will be at Penn Valley to conduct a training workshop for those who feel called to participate in an Advocacy Team.  Details about the concept of advocacy teams are provided below.  Please review and if you feel led to do so, sign up for the workshop as shown on the workshop flyer—preferably, as soon as possible.  AND, if you have a friend who you think might be interested, please invite them too!  One does not have to be a member or attender of a Quaker meeting to participate, just be interested in effective political action on crucial policies impacting our country’s direction.
