MEETING FOR WORSHIP:

With the current spike in covid cases and after consulting other members of the W&M committee as well as the clerk and alternate clerk of MMFP, it has been decided that in person MFW at the meetinghouse on alternate Sundays will be suspended, effective immediately at least until January 2021, when the situation will be reevaluated. We continue to meet together on-line.

The historic building and grounds are owned by the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting (PYM), and managed by the ASMH Preservation Trust. If you would like to reserve space for a tour or a wedding, this is not the place. For up-to-date information about the building and Quakers’ unique contributions to society throughout history, please consult the ASMH website. The meetinghouse grounds are open Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 4pm. The building is closed due to COVID-19

MMFP and Central Philadelphia Monthly Meeting (CPMM) are in a care relationship with Friends Select School, and each monthly meeting is responsible for appointing members to the board of trustees. The only Center City pre-K to 12th grade school, Friends Select is located at 17th St. and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Many past and current MMFP members and/or their children have attended Friends Select.

As we adjust our lives to social distancing/sheltering at home/working at home, John Gallery has suggested that Friends can read The Journal of John Woolman independently over the next several weeks. Then we can meet together to discuss what was learned, once it's possible to do so. The Journal is readily available in print, and via Project Gutenberg (search for it on Google).  If you're interested in learning more, please contact John directly.

Public

Friends, we hold evening meeting for worship on Wednesdays at 6:00 pm. The doors open at 5:30.

VISITORS, ATTENDERS, AND MEMBERS

Public

Several times over the last few months, meeting members and attenders cooked dinner at Old First Reformed UCC"s social hall. Since 1984, the church sponsors a men's shelter during the winter months. For several years,  a group of MMFP volunteers have taken on the responsibility of shopping and cooking for a dinner for the men's evening meal. More dates are on the "events" tab.

Thanks to Ed and Katie for organizing this worthwhile activity, and to all those who have shown up to cook and spend time at the shelter!
