Throughout our lives we receive help from many different people. Sometimes those people are deliberately helping us, but often some people may not even know they are giving us help. So, too, in the course of our lives we help others both consciously and unknowingly.
In honor of the Thanksgiving holiday, the November Adult Religious Ed session will consist of a workshop experience in giving thanks. Participants will be invited to write four to six letters of thanks during the session to people who have been important in their lives. The intent is to write real letters that you will consider actually mailing. After two periods of writing there will be two periods of discussion about the feelings that arise in the course of writing these letters and how giving thanks can be a spiritual practice. The unusual aspect of this workshop experience is that, although you will know all the people you write to, the people will not be chosen by you but will be chosen by the format of the workshop.
Writing paper, pens, envelopes and stamps to be able to mail your letters will be provided. As will a light lunch.
Please RSVP not only to be able to know how much food (and writing paper) to provide, but also to know if there will be a sufficient number of people interested and available on this Sunday before Thanksgiving. John Gallery's info: JAGPhila at mac dot com
