Meeting for Learning on For Earthcare, with love foremost, with South Miami Mayor Philip Stoddard

INVITATION FOR MIAMI FRIENDS MEETING, for Sunday 11/06/2016 at 9:30am, to attend a Meeting for Learning facilitated by Warren Hoskins, with guest Philip Stoddard, Mayor of the City of South Miami, scientist, professor at Florida International University and community activist. This will be a continuation of the series provided by the Peace and Social Concerns Committee for the first Firstday of each month.

Our invitation for last month began:

For Earthcare, with love foremost -

We continue to bring forward our concern for having a habitable Earth for our children and grandchildren, and the generations after them. We seek to hold this concern higher in our awareness. We feel it pressing urgently. We feel the need of constant productive attention to this concern. Increasingly, we feel called to hear and observe more, to reflect more in group worship, and to seek leadings. Questions arise: What is our way forward? What actions do we discern as necessary and timely now? Who will provide the informed leadership?

Philip Stoddard too shares these concerns – and he is a valued member and leader of our neighboring community, a respected researcher and scientist, and outspoken on the concerns of Earthcare.

Philip would like time to query us about our concerns and views, and in turn we will be able to ask him what he sees can be done, should be done or must be done. We can ask of him his priorities, what he views as urgent actions to be taken, and whether there are points at which changes may pose insurmountable obstacles to living as we do now in South Florida.

Peacefully,
--Warren
